The Pitkin Solar Project (“Pitkin”) is a single axis tracking solar system on 35-acres located in the Roaring Fork Valley. Pitkin will be operated by Primergy and aims to supply clean and renewable solar energy under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) to Holy Cross Energy, an electric co-op serving almost 45,000 members in Western Colorado. Pitkin’s development and construction aimed to utilize responsible and efficient construction processes with low-touch land management, which allows the project to be built without grading the site and minimize environmental impacts. Pitkin is believed to be a good example of delivering new infrastructure to benefit local communities in environmentally sensitive locations.

Project Aims:

  • Annual generation > 11,000MWh
  • Offtake secured with a 25-year PPA with Holy Cross Electric Cooperative
  • Specialized anti-glare modules specifically designed for Pitkin to reduce reflected light for the aviation traffic and residential neighborhood
  • Revised construction plan with the aim of avoiding significant civil works and achieving a ‘low-touch’ site that preserves the nature topography
