Daniel Chavez

General Counsel with over 20 years’ experience in global transactions in the private equity, renewable energy, and fintech sectors. Daniel is a member of Quinbrook’s Executive Committee
- Daniel has an extensive track record working on cross-border mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, as well as in the development and financing of energy infrastructure projects in the US and emerging markets. He has also managed corporate governance, regulatory, and compliance matters for private equity portfolio companies around the world.
- Prior to joining Quinbrook, Daniel was Managing Director, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Emergent Technology Holdings, where he was responsible for all legal and regulatory matters in connection with the firm’s blockchain, digital payments and trading businesses.
- He previously worked as Assistant General Counsel at First Solar, where he worked on the development, financing, acquisition, and divestiture of solar PV projects in the US and Latin America.
- Daniel was a Partner at McDermott Will & Emery LLP, where he advised clients on cross-border mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, project development and other complex commercial transactions with a particular focus on renewable energy projects.
- Prior to that experience, he was Managing Director, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Zaff Capital LP, where he was responsible for all legal and compliance matters in connection with the firm’s capital formation efforts as well as special situations investments in emerging markets, and he held other positions both in-house and in large international law firms where he worked on private equity, capital markets and energy transactions.
- Daniel holds a Master of Business Administration from Cornell University, a Master of Laws from Harvard Law School and a Bachelor of Laws from Universidad Panamericana in Mexico.
