Quinbrook strengthens global investment team with key senior hires

Brisbane – 23 February 2026 – Quinbrook, a specialist investment manager focused exclusively on delivering the infrastructure needed for the energy transition, today announced key appointments to its investment team, including a new Managing Director in Australia.
Tim Horneman has been appointed as a Managing Director in Quinbrook’s Australian team, reporting into Chief Executive Officer, Brian Restall. Based in Quinbrook’s Brisbane office, Tim will help grow and execute Quinbrook’s expanding pipeline of projects. Tim brings more than 20 years’ experience in energy and infrastructure investments across gas, LNG, power, renewables, storage and large-scale infrastructure. He was most recently Chief Commercial Officer at LD Energy, an Australian developer of fast-start gas peaking and grid-scale battery storage assets, focused on firming and system reliability.
In the UK, Quinbrook has appointed Tom Wray as Senior Director. Tom is an experienced power industry professional with a strong track record across transaction origination, development, construction and asset management. He most recently led Concentrated Solar Power activities at BrightSource Energy, including project origination and strategy execution. He previously held senior development and investment roles at Drax and AES. Tom’s appointment strengthens Quinbrook’s UK capability as it expands its investment activity, including its first investment in Ireland in 2025 through the Wexford Synchronous Condenser Project.

Quinbrook has also appointed Andrew Varvari to the newly created role of Head of Legal, Australia. Andrew brings more than 20 years of senior legal and executive experience at major Australian energy companies including Queensland Gas Company, BG Group and government owned utilities. His appointment supports Quinbrook’s accelerating growth and strategic focus in Australia, including advancement of the proposed Gladstone State Development Area (GSDA) Energy Hub Project, where Quinbrook has signed Memoranda of Understanding granting Stanwell exclusivity over the site and to demonstrate the first 8-hour duration EnerQB Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), developed in partnership with CATL, at Stanwell Power Station.
In addition to these appointments, Quinbrook has made several new hires globally across its corporate and operational teams in recent months, strengthening the depth and capability of the firm to support its global investment strategy.
