Quinbrook’s Renewables Impact Fund Awarded Europe’s Equity Fundraising of the Year by Infrastructure Investor

London – 01 March 2024 –  Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners (“Quinbrook”), a specialist global investment manager focused exclusively on the infrastructure needed for the energy transition, announced that it has been awarded “Europe’s Equity Fundraising of the Year” for its Quinbrook Renewables Impact Fund (“QRIF”, or the “Fund”) by the 2023 Infrastructure Investor Awards.

“As a leading investor in the energy transition, we are very pleased to be recognised by our industry peers and institutional investors around the world for this successful fund raise,” said Rory Quinlan, Co-founder and Managing Partner of Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners. “We are proud to have surpassed our fundraising target for our Renewables Impact Fund, demonstrating strong investor confidence in our holistic and value-add approach to sustainable infrastructure investment.”

QRIF, Quinbrook’s third managed fund, raised GBP 620 million in investor commitments in 2023, substantially exceeding the Fund’s initial GBP 500 million target. QRIF offers investors access to a holistic and differentiated approach to the energy transition and was marketed exclusively to UK institutional investors, attracting numerous new investors to Quinbrook from across the country. The Fund is also closely in line with the Government’s objectives of achieving a carbon-neutral UK power system by 2035, enhancing energy security, and promoting the “Levelling Up” initiative.

The portfolio features multiple long-term inflation linked contracts with investment grade counterparties such as National Grid and the UK Government, including the Pathfinder programme, the Contract for Difference regime, and the Capacity Market, as well as inflation linked power purchase agreements with leading UK companies, and is anchored by investment in one of the UK’s largest solar and battery storage projects. Moreover, the portfolio directly addresses critical challenges posed by the energy transition in the critical need for grid support, enhanced reliability, and security for the UK power system, utilizing innovative infrastructure-based solutions and advancements in data science and artificial intelligence, particularly in battery storage optimisation.

“This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Quinbrook team and their collective contributions made this award recognition possible,” added Quinlan.

The annual Infrastructure Investor Awards celebrate excellence in the infrastructure space globally and regionally across the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. This award acknowledges leaders across an array of categories and is the culmination of a broad-based voting process among industry participants, including peers and institutional investors. Quinbrook was also recognized by Infrastructure Investor as a finalist for “Global Energy Transition Investor of the Year” and “Energy Transition Investor of the Year, Asia Pacific.”
