Northern Quartz Campus is a fully integrated, sovereign, low-carbon solar and semiconductor supply chain solution.

The Northern Quartz Campus comprises of a series of integrated biochar, metallurgical silicon and polysilicon production facilities, which will be delivered in stages at the Lansdown Eco-Industrial Precinct, 40 km south of Townsville.

The production facilities will be powered by nearby solar farms firmed by co-located long duration battery energy storage systems connected to Queensland’s electricity network via a new 275 kV substation, and will be designed to produce and use sustainably sourced plantation wood to convert Queensland-mined quartz into metallurgical-grade and then high-purity silicon products.

The Northern Quartz Campus was declared a ‘prescribed project’ by the Queensland Minister for State Development and Infrastructure in 2024 and is expected to commence commercial operations by 2030.

The Northern Quartz Campus will harness North Queensland’s abundant natural resources to produce ethically-sourced raw materials for the low-carbon and digital economy.
