Supernode is strategically located next to the South Pine switchyard, the central hub of Queensland’s electricity transmission network, where approximately 80% of the state’s electricity flows.
This strategic location supports the development of one of the largest Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) campuses in Australia’s National Electricity Market. Stages 1 and 2 are now operational, providing a combined 520 MW / 1,858 MWh of battery storage capacity. With Stage 3, the first three stages of Supernode will provide approximately 780 MW / 3,073 MWh of capacity across up to four hours of storage duration.
Supernode BESS provides large-scale energy storage, flexibility and firming services, supporting grid stability and the continued integration of renewable energy across Queensland.
